the facts on the Libya attack were known quite early on.
And yet, for way too long all we saw from the administration was an attempt to reduce it to a random act of violence, a response to some stupid video that could not possibly have been predicted by anyone in the administration. A riot that got out of hand at the Libyan embassy when people were telling us there hadn't even been a protest going on at the time of the attack.
The general public had access to a lot of this information when Rice and Clinton were still shooting down anyone who thought it was about anything else but video-inspired random violence. I was going to post an article with the details on the 14th, three days later, but I was trying to keep a low profile. You're welcome to check the drafts. It's still there.
The administration wasn't saying "we don't know." They were saying this is the reason, and everyone else really needs to shut up now.
I won't even go into the embassy security failures.
