But really, I don't believe bin Laden is sitting in a cave with no other form of information than newspapers. I'm sure his humint is such that he's very, very aware of everything that's happening around him for 50 miles, and has information regarding any activity concerning him for all of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

For instance, I'm sure he knows when every patrol heads out and where it goes. I'm sure he's knows when a squad moves up.

I suspect those announcements are for domestic consumption, to keep interest alive, to show they are doing something.
