Sure. We see it today in Vancouver sci-fi.
Maybe it's a sci-fi thing. Most actors who make a career of it seem to genuinely love the genre, and they tend to cluster around whatever watering hole is making sci-fi. I think there was a small close-knit community of sci-fi actors then in Hollywood, and today up in BC. Shatner, Nimoy, and Takei were making sci-fi in Hollywood before Star Trek.
