The Democrats dedicated this time to funneling money to unions and selected allies, attacking the energy, insurance, and many other industries, increasing regulations on every front, and trying to take over the health care system. People like Carville were bragging about forty years of Democratic rule. Newsweek said "we're all socialists, now." The Republicans? Well, they lost. They could sit in the back. "Bipartisan" is for losers, not winners.
In 2010, before the Republicans took the House back, Obama and the majority Democrats scrapped the tax increases on the rich they had long insisted were essential. I suspect most liberals have forgotten this.
The Democratic Senate has not proposed a budget in over three years.
