"Out of the approximately two million words Rumsfeld has on record from interviews, press conferences, speeches, and all the rest, Bowser finds two sentences...well, one actually...that can be parsed into the concept of "imminent." So what? Rumsfeld should resign now? Are you planning on winning the election on this kind of pissy crap?
Okay, I see. So your argument is not that Rumsfeld wasn't both explicitly and implicitly dishonest about the imminent threat of WMD... Rather your argument is that he wasn't dishonest much. You are saying this is 'pissy crap' because it represents a small percentage of what he says.
Hmmm. I wonder if this works in a court of law... "The jury is to disregard this lie because it only constituted .05% of the words the accused uttered on the stand"
Great work, Tom. Another veritable masterpiece of rhetorical skill.
Maybe you remember the long series of threads here on the famous "imminent" flap where you people finally had to back down to accusing Bush of "leaving that impression" in the minds of Americans.
I don't recall any backing down. I don't see how 'grave and gathering' threats requiring 'pre-emptive self defense' can not mean imminent. But if you are really going to argue over grape-skin thick semantic connotations of words, then I don't think you should ever get your nose out of joint about someone quibbling over the definition of the word "is". This is the kind of 'See, I didn't really lie, mommy' quibbling over semantics is something that most of us get over in childhood. That doesn't wash with adults. At least with adults that are not in their second childhood....
I bring up Kerry because this thread and others like it are attempts at distraction from the real election issues of policy and consistency of positions, where your candidate is, to say the least, a bit weak.
Wait a second? The honesty, consistency and veracity of or Scty of Defense, and his statements, is not pertinent to the election? Its not an issue? Wow.
"Bush sucks" might look good on a bumper sticker, but you'll need something better to attract the rest of the voters. "
How very funny that you should say this after arguing for 3 posts about how much "Kerry sucks" as a response to a criticism of the behavior of the current administration.
About that 'mindless shill' comment? I rest my case.
