The american soil caveat: That is there because I don't hold that the president has power over foreign lands, nor the total power to protect american citizens in foreign lands. And the issue in discussion is attacks on american civilians. Now, if I am to count foreign acts of terror on american citizens, then Bush doesn't look any better than Clinton, in fact he looks even worse (look it up!!!). And I'm not sure how to/where to stick the Cole, as that was an attack on a military vessel in a foreign harbor by a bunch of scumbags who have declared holy-war on us as about as officially as you can.
That embassies are american soil Quite (technically) right. Do you really need that level of quibble to defend your man?
The 6 dead in the WTC Absolutely busted! Completely forgot about that, and that there were six deaths! In my defense, I have had a nasty cold. But if that gets hung on Clinton, then you can't use the "just in office a few hundred days" quibble to defend Bush. I have no blind love for Clinton, so by all means, hang it on him! Just be clear why it is his fault and 9/11 is not Bush's fault.
As for the OKC bombing, we all know what the subject matter is here, especially WRT Clarke and this debate on international terrorism.
And I am still interested in an accounting of what Mr Bush does in the white house since all I hear is a unending stream of "Not me! Not my fault! Clinton made me do it!"
