Most of you know I took a sidetrip to Mars this last weekend, and dropped out of the thread I started to try to organize an alternate history experiment. That's too bad. I just spent an hour reading all the posts, and it looks as though it was slow to get started, but began to take off after I stopped paying attention (sort of a Heisenbergian thing?). I wonder how it would've turned out if I'd stuck around? [get it?]

Just wanted to thank Tom and Mary Anne, and Bowser and SDG (the Nixon AH had potential) and Alcaray, and Larry (thanks for the scholarly background reading--interesting), and Frank, and whoever I might've missed, for playing along. We should do this again sometime!
