I was a little hasty.
Point well taken. I have to agree with you, and share your concerns to some degree. In the interest of bettering human life, we do some horrific things to animals. I believe medical research, and harvesting animals for food is justified and necessary, (Not talking about cosmetics companies) but it disturbs me if I dwell on it, and if I didn’t put it out of my mind, would not sleep very well. We don’t do these things because we are evil monsters, but because we (Correctly in my view) make an important and essential distinction between the value placed upon human life, and that of other animals.
It’s not too much of a stretch to imagine that a sentient race from another world might make a similar distinction, without malice.
Maybe I’m being anthropomorphic, but that gives me the willies.
