Lessee. Did anyone claim to have a democracy under Saddam?

Did anyone claim to be leading a country into democracy under Saddam.

If the answer to those is "no", then what does the number of newspapers they had have to do with anything?

And closing a newspaper because it doesn't agree with the political views is how one goes from, say, 250 papers down to 12, wouldn't you say? A start, maybe?
