Well, let's see:
Did anyone claim to be leading a country into democracy under Saddam?
Not that I'm aware of.
If the answer to those is "no", then what does the number of newspapers they had have to do with anything?
A freedom of the press.
And closing a newspaper because it doesn't agree with the political views is how one goes from, say, 250 papers down to 12, wouldn't you say? A start, maybe?
No, but then you have a problem reading articles with 3 or more paragraphs. Let's see if I can help you out a little:
The Coalition Forces are in charge of Iraq. This is called marshall law. that means it is able to stop any and all enemies of the marshal law, including publishing houses that prints "articles that incite violence against the Coalition Forces".
U.S. soldiers handed Ali Yasseri, editor of the weekly al-Hawza newspaper, a letter from U.S. civil administrator Paul Bremer, citing a breach of an order issued last year that bans incitement to violence.
A year seems long enough to comply with an order to stop inciting Iraqis to kill Coalition Troops, don't you think?
Seems to me the only bad guy in this story is Yasseri. You might see it differently and that's fine -- for Bowserworld, anyway. In all reality, when a man inciting violence is told by a government rep that what he is doing is illegal and that he should stop, maybe he should stop, or move to some other government (he has so many near by that would happily take him and his righteous rag under their suppressing wing) -- and not be so overly surprised when that same government rep gets angry with him.

Dan
