I think we can both be right. The fact that many nations are oligarchies, as the US is on the way to becoming, or otherwise unpleasant or unrepresentative of their people, does not detract from the UNs function as a democracy of nations. Or republic.

A Senator or Congersperson may not represent his/her constituents well, but is still a Senator or Congersperson.
