The Isetta was a Beemer???

Whoah - news to me. I remember them - I had a die-cast metal toy version when I was a kid, and so recognized them when they appeared in Roman street scenes in '60s movies... but I thought they were Italian.

Speaking of tiny cars... here's a copy of the first brand new car I ever owned, including the color:

The 600 Sedan, Honda's first export to America. 2-cylinder, 4-speed, 600cc air-cooled engine with transaxle and front-wheel drive. About the same size as the Mini-Cooper (same wheel size: 10"), but lighter. Got 30+ mpg in 1972, when gas was still less than $0.50/gallon. The perfect car for inner-city driving - it fit in 3/4 of a standard parking space. I paid $1800 cash for it, brand new, off the lot.
