In a world where Jerry Springer is the most popular thing around Dick Cavett wouldn't have a chance.

The lowest common denominator likes Jerry Springer and Rush Limbaugh, and are the same folks who brought you Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, Pat Robertson, etc. Ya don't have to think, just believe. Limbaugh advertises himself as being the only source of news anyone needs. Just trust him. Or is it Him.

On the other hand is the Steve Allen, Dick Cavett sort of thing. Not for the masses. Takes a little thought, discernment to appreciate. Allows for thinking for oneself. Requires it.

We'll see. I'll agree with Tom, though, appealing to the baser instincts of mankind, the jingoism, prejudice, selfishness, sells better. That's why Limbaugh makes a fortune. Folks like to hear it. Kick ass! Shee - it, yeah!!!

Amen.
