Some people see politics in everything

I call such people "political whores." It doesn't matter what the topic is, they see it in political terms, especially as an opportunity to bash the other side. For example, it's raining here in Colorado today, with a winter storm possible in the next 48 hours. To normal people, that's a weather report. To a political whore, it's an opportunity to rant about global warming is changing the environment and how it's all Bush's fault. To those of us living in the real world, this storm is a blessing that might help ease the fire danger from a multiyear drought.

Are there political whores on the conservative side? Without a doubt. Still, it seems there are a lot more of them on the other side. Perhaps it's because conservatives tend to be less likely to look to government as the solution to all problems, so politics isn't as big a part of their daily life. To me, politics represents the very worst aspects of humanity and is the leading cause of misery throughout history.

It helps to understand the origin of the word "politics": poly means many, and tics are blood-sucking parasites.

That Mexican mother did an incredible thing. To me, that was more amazing than the hunter who had to amputate his own leg several years ago, or the climber who had to amputate his arm last year. In those cases, they took desperate action to save their own lives. This remarkable mother took desperate action to save her child's life, undoubtedly knowing that she was putting herself at grave risk of dying. It's unbelieveable that she had such selfless courage, and a miracle that she didn't bleed to death or die of infection. She's one tough lady.

Only a political whore would see such a selfless act as an opportunity to bash Bush, and to do it so ineptly.
