Palestinian kills Americans.

Massacre

Unfortunately the state of present conflicts in the world have an added element that makes them more volitile. Religion.
WWI. WWII, Korea and Vietnam were more about differences in social idealogy and territorial conquest and weren't primarily driven by religious idealogies. Yugoslavia was really a religious war. Al Queda was driven to attack us based on a distortion of their religion. The Isreali/Palestinian conflict. I think that was one our administrations worst miscalculations in that they didn't see the fact that the Sunnis and Shites would join forces against us. The fact that they were persecuted under Saddam becomes moot when faced with an occupying force with a polar opposite view of religion.
Atrocities happen in a time of war, probably more so when the religious element is added. (See the crusades or the Spanish Inquisition) All we can do is try and prevent it from happening again. I read where the soldiers in the prison hadn't recieved any training on how to handle prisoners or on the Geneva convention guidelines.
But as Bowser has said, the damage is done.

Sorry about the long rambling, the main reason a linked to the story above was to point out that atrocities are commited by everybody. The French legacy in Northern Africa is a travesty. The hacking of people to death by machete armed gangs in Thailand earlier this week. 100 people dead in Nigeria this week. The American media overemphasizes our own faults with this insipid ratings battle they have. Kinda makes me not want to even turn on the TV.

All we can do is try and be the person that we know how to be and hope that these conflicts will come to an end as quickly as possible.
