We are no better or worse than anyone when it comes to man's potential for inhumanity to man and we never have been.

We have committed horrible abuses in every war in history. Soldiers, Prison guards and police worldwide are among the most potentially sadistic individuals due to the company they keep and watchdogs are required to prevent the abuses.

We should root out and punish anyone associated with this kind of abuse and we and our enemies should ponder what we are capable of when pushed to war. War is political only to politicians.
