Hi Don
I think you might be right about the religious opposition to medically assisted suicide, but cryo-suspension shouldn't be suicide ;-)
Suspending people - or just their bodies, taking a religious view - is just an extension of life-support, only more so. Once live patients are successfully "paused" for increasing lengths of time I think any objection based on "suicide" will be moot.
I am sceptical of suspension for immense time periods however since cosmic-ray damage [since even we soak up cosmic ray secondarys here under 10 tons of air] - and damage from radioactive potassion decay in the body itself - will be left unrepaired by the body's repair systems for great lengths of time. Cumulative damage from low-doses will be a major challenge for cryo-suspension past maybe a century. Fortunately some interesting stars exist less than a century away at ~ 0.3 c. Such speeds are [relatively] easily achieved by laser-sails and particle-beam riders.
