How much more do you think is needed to address the issue?
According to this source, we spend nearly $373 billion on public K-12 education in 2000. Most of that came from the state and local level appropriations. It has definitely increased since then. Throw in what we spend for college education, private education, and non-college adult education and I've heard the total approaches $600 billion a year. How much more do you think is needed?
We do need increased science and math education in America. We also need more people who're willing to take advanced courses. I've heard that a very high percentage of all engineering graduate students in America come from overseas.
