re: I'm going to take a chance and post this...

Tom, from reading your posts you sound like a very intelligent man but your devotion to a man like Bush, let alone any celebrity or politician is a bit worrisome. I have yet to hear you ever say one derogatory thing about the man even though he's clearly made some very grave mistakes.

Let me say first, before you take this as some typical liberal attack, that I claim no allegiance to either major political party. My first politcal act in high school was to support Barry Goldwater for president. I voted for Richard Nixon in his first term and was not a Clinton supporter his first term. I instead, out of frustration about the lack of really good choices, voted for Ross Perot in spite of his lunatic ravings at the end of the campaign. I saw some strange things about GW Bush during the last election but certainly had no great love of Al Gore. Instead, found a friend that was going to vote for Bush and we cancelled out each other's vote by going for the Libertarian candidate.

There seems to be this huge defensive posturing in the Republican ranks right now to find rationalizations and excuses for Bush's terrible blunders. I emplore you and any other conservatives on here to step back from the slap in pride you may be feeling in having a black mark on the party and realizing that this administration is clearly stepping over the bounds of our Constitution and often human decency. Even if John Kerry is not an acceptable person to you (he certainly doesn't thrill me), sometimes the American people have to slap our government back down with the only weapon we possess. I will vote for John Kerry this election for one reason only - our political system works best and has the least amount of corruption when politicians are limited in time in office and there's a stalemate between controlling parties of Congress and the Executive Branch.
