I was unaware that the geological characteristics of the rocks around Opportunity were that different from those around Spirit, but it's obvious when I think about it. The only example of a rock out on the plains there that I can think of is "Bounce."
Does it seem to anyone else looking at the photos of the Columbia Hills that there seem to be fewer rocks on the hills than on the flatlands? Distance, maybe, or the obvious fact that rocks roll downhill.
How were these hills formed? From the space shots they look kind of out there by themselves.
Is this little hump South Mesa, or would that be over the horizon?
