If Bush had stayed the course for Al Queda in Afganistan, we would now have the co-operation of many countries around the world to dig them out and eliminate them one by one. Bush wouldn't have said (in his best Texas drawl) "Bring 'em on!" and we wouldn't have this Holy War going on over there, this quamire of hatred and revenge which is spiraling out of control over there.
You know, I've been watching the "Great Rehabilitation of the War in Afghanistan" on the Left, and it's getting a bit old.
Maybe you don't remember the thousands and thousands who hit the streets protesting that war. Maybe you don't remember my pointing out that the organizers were anti-American leftists, and being firmly told that this was the Voice of the People speaking.
Maybe you think that the Arab world that doesn't like us being in Iraq would somehow simply love us occupying Afghanistan. Maybe you think the Islamists and others currently sneaking into Iraq to fight us would somehow stay out of Afghanistan if that was the only place American troops could be found, that somehow foreign troops in Afghanistan would not be seen as a "holy war?"
Maybe you think the word "quagmire" would never have been used in regards to Afghanistan, that civilian casualties would not be paraded daily, and that Ted Kennedy would not be daily hammering Bush about not planning it properly. That the Left would not be using it as a lever to pry Bush out of office.
Get real. The same old crap would be all over the Afghanistan war, and, with a few exceptions, from the same people.
At least the extreme Left in this country has been consistent about this, and still thinks we should be out of Afghanistan.
