Voters? Space? Don't hold your breath...
Are you familiar with the low percentage of registered American voters who bother to vote? Are you familiar with the low percentage of eligible Americans who even bother to register? Have you seen the political commercial ridiculing Bush by inter-cutting his 'space initiative' speech with people talking about jobs?
The answer to your question is, of course: "Yes." That's why America has no almost space program worthy of the name... and why it will continue to flounder in the same way for the forseeable future.
