What if you could run the experiment the other way? What would be the alternative solution? Abandon Israel and Kuwait?

Israel is the only democracy--so far--in the entire Middle East.

If we had not fought the first Gulf War, which resulted in our troops being in Saudi Arabia, Saddam would now be a nuclear power. This is not speculation--this is near-certainty. The war uncovered a massive nuclear weapons program in Iraq that had been unknown to the U.N.

I'm not sure I WANT to run the experiment the other way.
