As a rule I don't watch or follow sports. I think they are boring and I have no allegiance to players or teams. For some reason I always look forward to the olympics though. Even though they are flawed, I just like the concept of the games. I hated it when the US ruined them by sending in the "Dream Team". I hated seeing judges of the last Winter olympics destroy their credibility in the ice skating venue. I hate hearing of bribes to the Olympic committe. But even with all that the spirit of the games still speaks to me. Even though there are rivalries and politics a plenty, The world still gets together for a few weeks and cheers their champions. Anything that brings the world together for a short time in spite of the politics and childish behavior of nation-states is a good thing IMO. I'm looking forward to the next games, and really hope luck and grace are on the side of Greece and praying nothing bad happens.
