Because media players, who are mostly white, sell ghetto behavior, black culture is the culprit? LOL
Market it, and they will come.
The time when I thought of Sidney Poitier when I thought of a black movie star, it was because he was the only one. Now I think of Denzel Washington and Halle Barry.
The time when all those cultural events that I listed took place, coincidentally, was also the time when segregation was legal and aggressively implemented in this country. These days, acting black and acting white are a lot closer at all levels because the races can work and live in the same places. This includes the middle class, and it also includes the poor parts of town.
If all you want to see is ugly and you want to lay it at the doorstep of black America, go ahead. Forward the memo to Ms. Rice.
PS-- The punks in my library are wearing tee shirts and jeans, and sneakers from K-Mart. How black is that?
