The best method of teaching behavior is by precept and example. This is true if you are talking about a parent teaching his children, or a nation-state wanting to influence the world to participate in the system they claim to believe in.

If we truly had a system we believed in, we would not have to invade another nation-state to enforce our system, or some simblance thereof. If we really believed in capitalism we would understand that the concept of convergence would force cultures different to adapt to the way we do things in order to be competitive.

Perhaps we are telling the world, we don't really believe in what we have been saying the United States is all about, and you should do as we say, and not do as we do---or we will bomb you to oblivion.
