Heh, heh, heh!!! Talk about 180 out-of-phase!
Do todays True Believers admit they ARE wrong? That's the FIFTH "no".
Were there any WMD? Of course not unless one is so desperate as to call one old shell with some Sarin a "WMD". Sarin is deadly in small quantities, and two people were treated for "minor exposure".
Will True Believers believe the pre-war CIA was correct, and there was NO connection between Saddam and al-Qaeda? Heh, heh. Will they apologize to Blix?
(This one is classic!)
The third "no" is no human-rights high ground can be claimed by us regarding
Saddam's torture chambers because we mistreated Iraqi prisoners. This equates sleep deprivation with life deprivation, illegal individual humiliation with official mass murder.
Do True Believers have any problem with calling it all "sleep deprivation" and minimizing the tortures? Do they ever include beating people to death in their minimization? Nope!
The fourth "no" is no Arab nation is culturally ready for political freedom and our attempt to impose democracy in Iraq is arrogant Wilsonian idealism.
Now, do True Believers see that Iraqis just want the US and it's brand of democracy the hell out of there? Do they admit that the Iraqis will have to sort it out for themselves? Will the US learn that to get respect one has to respect?
Last - what type of personality cannot admit it is wrong. It's found under "character disorders" or "personality disorders" in the DSM-IV.
Heh, heh. I used to admire Safire as a very, very bright, articulate guy. Turns out to be not much more than a True Believer. Probably lurks on right-wing weblogs, taking them for gospel.

Will today's defeatists then admit they were wrong? That's a fifth "no."
