I think the point I was getting at in my original post is that Muslims broadcasting a call to prayer across a small town seems to be at least as intrusive to religiously-oversensitive people as a barely-visible cross on a city seal.
However, I did some more research since I made that post.
The ACLU has, in fact, addressed this, and makes the reasonable point that one is connected with a government, if only a local one, while the other one is private. And they make the even more reasonable point that this is no more intrusive than church bells, which have rung over towns from Christian churches for hundreds of years.
That being said, I still think getting bent out of shape over the cross on the seal is overkill.
I like to think of myself as a reasonably sane person, and I don't find my religious beliefs threatened every time I notice a symbol of someone's else's religion. Also, I think we all know that the people displaying the seal aren't trying to promote the Christian religion any more than they are the Roman pantheon.
