Well said Mary Anne. As an atheist it does get overwhelming at times. However, ever since I heard the following joke, the sight of a cross brings more of a grin than consternation.

So let's imagine if JFK instead of Jesus had been the son of God. Would we all be wearing little Manlicher sniper rifles around our necks now?

I would think, should Jesus return, the last thing the dude will want to see around him are a bunch of crosses.
