A native species, homeland invaded, no longer fits. Lost, puzzled, scared.

And then shot.

Through no fault of his own, it's decided by the new inhabitants he's a threat and has to be killed.

Probably necessary, and tragic nonetheless. Both/and.

Can understand the folks who shot it, AND can understand the vigil.
