I would perfer if Lindy could provide a link, or at least an explanation of what the Mad Cow Morning News is, but the story rings true to me. Israeli espionage in the US isn't unknown.

My guess is that the Israeli gov't caught wind of the upcoming surge in USN activity. The Israelis gov't would want to determine US intentions - is it really a training exercise or something else or what? So they tasked their intelligence agents to find out what's happening. Only they got caught.

Because Israel is a US ally, they'll probably just get a stern talking-to and sent home. If they're "illegal" agents they'll be expelled and blacklisted. If they're attatched to the Israeli diplomatic corps, in they'll be declared persona non grata. Quietly.

It's how the game is played, and I don't really see any reason to get exercised about this report, one way or the other.
