I was just answering the post below:

Frankly, TATP is too sensitive and dangerous for any semi-rational person to use. It is far easier to make far safer stuff like TNT or even nitroglycerine. It is also not nearly as powerful as these or other standard explosives. I have made nitroglycerine and it is a piece of cake. It is not nearly as sensitive as the stories say it is. Of course, straight nitroglycerine is not the way to go, but it can be made into dynamite rather easily. TNT is easy to make and safe to handle.
Also, stealing dynamite from construction sites is an old and reliable way to get safe explosives along with detonators, etc, in a hurry without making them.
Digging up rusting artillery shells is mere suicide.

I agree that explosives are much more easily obtained from other means than by using the contents of deteriorating old artillery shells.
