Okay, a modification to the original post
According to the article you linked, Daniel Ortega, the totalitarian Marxist whose dearest wish was to become Castro II over a communist Nicaragua, also thinks Reagan sucks.
Big surprise.
From the end of the article:
Reagan does have admirers in the region who say his tough stance halted the communist threat and ultimately brought democracy.
His 1983 invasion of the Caribbean island of Grenada to oust a Marxist government and rescue stranded Americans was very popular.
Nicaraguan President Enrique Bolanos said Reagan was "a great defender of Nicaragua's return to democracy and all Nicaraguans who believe in democracy recognise that legacy."
And in El Salvador, President Tony Saca said Reagan helped the country in "its most difficult moments."
Allies say the proof is at the ballot box -- since the end of the region's civil wars, voters have repeatedly elected conservative, pro-Washington governments.
The region remains sharply divided, however, and the leftist leaders that went to war with U.S.-backed forces in Nicaragua and El Salvador still pull in more than 35 percent of the national vote.
I'm beginning to think that the general attitude on the Left is that it's okay to let nations slip into slavery, as long as nobody gets hurt out in public where it can bother your sensibilities.
Reagan's record also has to grind on a lot of leftists--some of who I knew personally--who spent a good part of the 80's kissing Ortega's ass.
Oh, by the way, that included John Kerry.
