Technological Activity in the Saturn system
I'm guessing, Gary, that you HAVEN'T heard Dick Hoagland's story of 'The Thing in the Ring'. or read 'Ringmakers of Saturn' by Bergrum (sp?).
In my 'New Earths' (1981), on terraforming, a fictional vignette had 27th century humans mining the Saturn system for volatiles for planetary engineering of Mars and Venus. The advantage over Jupiter, aside from less radiation, was that the delta-V to Venus impact was LESS from Saturn than from Jupiter, because from Saturn they could use a Jupiter fly-by.
