Conservatives who downplay..........
are spitting on those values that were taught me at the United States Naval Academy, that I accepted a commission in the military to defend, and that I have tried to teach my children to honor.
The abuses photographed are probably the tip of a very nasty iceberg that cannot be excused, let alone supported by conservatives or any other apologist for base inhumanity.
It does long term damage to this nation to attempt to excuse Lt. Calley's, Oliver North's, or those responsible for these prison abuses.
