And the Taliban and al Qaeda are the same thing. Forget the Taliban fulfilled the ideal of a conservative government-religious conformity and ascribed status.
And if you drink enough, you might have destroyed those particular brain cells that had the national identity that the largest number of AQ members were Saudi.
You still can't recreate al Qaeda as something other than what they are. They are not a national group with a country with borders. They are a disafected opposition group, feeding off of hatred, twisting religion to justify their attrocities, successfully using terror as a tactic.
We have not chased them from their borders! They have none.
We did not defeat them in Iraq. They weren't there. (probably are now though)
They are not our enemy in Iran. Different group, state sponsored.
And they are Persian, not Arab.
This unfocused, difused hatred seems to be a hallmark of right wing conservative groups. Watching the religious right rant on the tube shows the same hatred for "anyone that is not one of us."
Watching the Bush misadministration conduct this war and occupation is like watching a football game on TV. You know, when the odds-on favorite "snatches defeat from the jaws of victory."
Problem is, a whole lot of dead people won't be around to say, "wait until next year!"
