Perhaps you just don't get it. al Quaeda is a terrorist group--they are not in the business of nation building, they have no nation---only enemies.
The Taliban, Iran and Algeria are conservative governments. They want a theocratic state where breaking the law is also commiting sin. When conservatives get what they want, this is what we get.
