Good point that not blaming Israel could be considered self-serving given the writer, although I as a non-Jew agree with the points FWIW.
I have long maintained that the Muslim religion as practised the last couple centuries, and particularly today is disfunctional at the least. I agree completely with the writer's point that the Muslim voices protesting the Islamofacists' suicidal murderous actions have been few and feeble, given the large Muslim presence in the world and even in the US and Europe. That IS disfunctional behaviour although it's the least serious aspect of it. Contrast these times with the times when Arabic civilizations were the shining light of the world. May those times return again this millenium.
Your quibble about shouting fire in a theater is simply word games. That was not the writer's point. His point was that these barbaric behaviours are forcing us to have to consider moral dillemas and questions far more painful and threatening to our liberty and our values that previous situations. Even with WWII we had few moral dillemas. One major moral dillema we did have - the Holocast, the West, the Catholic Church, et. al. failed miserably until it was too late.
