How much of the country is under the effective control of the central government?

How close are they to elections, firmly establishing democracy?

Is the Taliban gone, finished, outta there?

Do women have the rights GWB promised the American people they would have?

(Answers - Very, very little, not within sight, no, it's growing and no.)

The rest of the stuff you point out is the manicure, the haircut. And Afghanistan is where GWB wants it - a puppet government which will rubber-stamp anything he wants.
