re: *sigh*

I am becoming convinced that one reason people become leftists is the inability to get beyond the perceptual and work in the realm of abstract reasoning.

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with the content of the movie.

My comment was on how particular entities (like Michael Moore or Air America) with political positions supported by the cultural elite, receive adulation far beyond any actual performance in their field.

The $24 million opening weekend, nearly equalled by "White Chicks," is hailed as though the next chapter of Star Wars had just hit the theaters. On the list of all-time opening weekends, the movie clocks in at number 187 (to be fair, this number is not adjusted for number of theaters, and would certainly be nearer the top of the list if it were.) Yet it makes headlines across the country.

It's interesting to compare this to the snorts of dismissal from many of the same media sources that greeted the $84 million opening weekend of "The Passion."

As far as the content of the movie is concerned, transcripts are dribbling out, and when someone with more time than I have works it over, I may post a link. There are hundreds of pages showing the flaws, distortions and outright lies in "Bowling for Columbine," and I don't think this will be an exception.
