If Iraq succeeds in creating a democratic society from a tyranny, due to the actions of Bush and his allies, the Left in America and elsewhere will take a hit from which it may never recover. The worst face is going to be put on every incident in Iraq for the next five years.

It is interesting to compare this to the aftermath of the fall of Saigon. Nothing was ignored so absolutely in the American media than the atrocities visited on the Vietnamese people by their new rulers. When one prominent protester, Joan Baez, commented on the abuses of the communists, she received endless crap and even death threats from others on the Left.
