Current Events » in reply to Kerry's alleged conscience vs his voting record

Ya know what?

I was born into the Roman Catholic faith, as was Kerry. And I firmly support a woman's right to choose that which she believes is the right thing for her to do, as does Kerry.

Were I in the woman's position, I might do differently, but I have no right to tell her what she should do with her life or to her body. And, if I do not have this right, there is no way the government can have this right if you believe the authority of the government derives from the consent of the governed.

In an earlier post there was a discussion of the problems of liberalism. The major one being the lack of being able to define a moral "good." The liberal belief in individualism precludes this, as the only good a liberal can define is what is good for him, not his neighbors.

On the other hand, the conservatives can run around telling everybody else what to do. They always know how everybody else should act, and are more than ready to tell them. It's just that they don't always do as they say--witness the Falwell's, Swagarts, etc.

I salute Kerry for his position of maintaining the separation of church and state that is so important to allowing the existence of religious liberty in this country.
