WASHINGTON (AP) -- The key U.S. assertions leading to the 2003 invasion of Iraq - that Saddam Hussein had chemical and biological weapons and was working to make nuclear weapons - were wrong and based on false or overstated CIA analyses, a scathing Senate Intelligence Committee report asserted Friday.

Of course what's really sad is that there are people who post here who continue to claim that there were WMDs in Iraq, long after the U.S. government has admitted that there wasn't. Here now we have a final bipartisan assessment that claims Bush made that Saddam had hundreds of tons of chemical and biological weapons were false. Remember it was Rusmfeld who confidently said "We know he has them, we know where they are." Remember it was Colonel Powell who put our nation's credibility on the line by repeating these erroneous claims before the United Nations. Here are some key quotes from this article:"Sen. Pat Roberts, the Kansas Republican who heads the committee, told reporters that assessments that Iraq had chemical and biological weapons and could make a nuclear weapon by the end of the decade were wrong."
"Tragically, the intelligence failures set forth in this report will affect our national security for generations to come. Our credibility is diminished. Our standing in the world has never been lower. We have fostered a deep hatred of Americans in the Muslim world, and that will grow. As a direct consequence, our nation is more vulnerable today than ever before."
Yet there are idiots participating in this BBS who continue to manufacture claims about Iraqi WMDs out of thin air. Its time to retire these ridiculous remarks and admit to the fact - which our own government now says - that Iraq no longer had large stockpiles of WMDs, that Iraq was in compliance with U.N. resolutions and international law pertaining to WMDs. On the basis of falacious claims, this nation engaged in an unprecented pre-emptive war that has left thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians and hundreds of American soldiers dead. I am sickened by this and by what our nation has done.
