How about certain chemicals we care to ingest?
How about them? Government limits alcohol consumption by minors and those who drive motor vehicles while under it's influence. Should those restrictions be dissolved?
Other addictive drugs are also regulated and/or limited by Government. If addictive intoxicating drugs were suddenly made available to all, I would be scared to drive my car for fear of what the guy across the yellow line has in his system. At least by keeping them illegal or regulated, we can have the peace of mind that drugs are fairly unattainable to the masses which severely reduces the odds of the guy coming at me can't tell which of the 5 blurry centerlines is real.
The real point of all this comes down to: We the people decide how much control the government has. The government is us. If we choose to regulate ourselves then we can all enjoy our freedom better. If we don't, then IMO our freedom will be taken from us by the stupid and those who don't give a damn about anybody else.
