Trying to compare WWII with Iraq.
It's a bit like comparing rescuing a little old lady from a gang of thugs to stomping, torturing and robbing a little old man for the fun of it and the money.
The commonality is violence. The difference is that one is noble and one is despicable. (I thought I had to explain that.)
What these apologists are trying to do is give their ignoble efforts some respectability. It works for the choir, clearly, but no one else.
