Quite frankly, you republicans tend to support the ignorant... and villify the 'intellectuials'

No, we tend to villify self-proclaimed intellectuals who lack all common sense. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and again and somehow expecting a different outcome. That their ideas repeatedly fail in the real world seldom phases intellectuals. Instead, they just state that the "right people" weren't in charge (meaning themselves, of course). As George Orwell (no Republican to be sure) pointed out, 'There are some ideas in the world so preposterous that only an intellectual could believe them."

Of course, we Republicans are used to being called ignorant by Democrats. We laugh at you all the same, but defeating you in elections is a lot of fun.
