Space Technology and the Earth's Magnetic Field Reversal
The Earth's magnetic field is in the process of reverising itself. It has declined about 15% since 1850. The famed Van Allen Radiation Belts will disappear, but the bulk of weak (under 1 GEV) cosmic radiation (mainly produced by the Sun) will be able to get all the way to the top of the Earth's atmosphere. This will dramatically increase radiation exposure of satellite electronics and human astronauts. Satellites may need additional hardening. Human vehicles may require additional shielding.
