1) Although the field has devreased 15% in 150 years, it isn't clear if this an actual reversal in progress or simply a fluctuation

2) Even if it were a reversal, it would be another 350 years before the field decreased to 50% of its 1850 value, which would still be adequate for shielding purposes - so NOTHING needs to be changed or redesigned in ANYONE's lifetime

3) Even when the main field reverses, plenty of evidence from Palaeomagnetism that a non-dipole field of 20-30% of the dipole field remains. This reduced field is still adequate for most shielding purposes
