I can't believe I have to argue this point.
The point I was trying to make is that women in Muslim nations with few exceptions have fewer rights, and in most cases far fewer rights than women in Western nations, and in fact, in many Asian nations. Do I have to bring up the miserable treatment afforded gays, other minorities, and, incidentally, any religion other than Muslim?
Do you know what the Jewish population of the Muslim Middle Eastern states are? Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Yemen, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia between them contain about 54,000 Jews.
There are 1 million Muslim voting citizens of Israel, a nation the size of New Jersey. A sixth of the population.
This institutionalized abuse of human rights is a fact. It is not confined just to the radical Islamists. And your interpretation of their religion is utterly irrelevant to that fact. I have seen plenty of examples of what is actually taught in many mosques, particularly overseas.
What Christians did hundred of years ago is also utterly irrelevant to this argument, and in fact to almost any issue nowadays.
This reminds me of the blithering assholes who dismiss the universally-bloody failures of Marxist nations across the planet by pointing out to me that Marx never actually wrote anything about that, so all these nations professing to be Marxist weren't "really" Marxist. See? Like that makes it all go away, and justifies teaching Marxism in colleges.
When the monsters who killed a hundred million people were taught, they were taught Marxism. At some point you have to look at what people do, not what they say.
The people who fly planes into buildings, saw heads off, shoot women for behaving like human beings, and blow up houses of worship of other religions didn't learn all that by going to frigging Catholic School.
I hope to God your philosophy--the idea that in any conflict, somehow America and the West have to be in the wrong--doesn't win this fall.
