Hi All
Lee,
I imagine many exoplanets might be gas-depleted cores of Jovians. The authors I pointed out in my first reply hypothesise that a Uranus-type planet could be stripped of its H/He envelope (~ 1 Earth mass) in a relatively short time, to form an ocean planet. Other near-in Jovians could get stripped to the core - if they have one. Current evidence suggests Jupiter is too hot for a differentiated core distinct from the H/He layers - a Jovian with a hot core might simply "boil" away...
Saturn is a different story.
